Freedom of Expression? The Creative Arts
There’s free to play and there’s free to express.
Cali Camp’s summer light, soft breeze, and oaks provide an inspiring environment for kids to create in. Cali Camp means Arts & Crafts, Drama, Dance, Martial Arts, Yoga for Kids and Music.
Each art is practiced with supportive counselors and taught by specialists. At Cali Camp, success is in the doing, the inner expression and each kid’s connection to the outer world.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Flourish in the arts and through the arts. Like all Cali Camp programs, Arts & Crafts is designed to support Cali Campers in finding themselves and growing in confidence.
These activities supply plenty of fun and shared moments, as well as openings for campers to discover life-changing opportunities.
In addition to our traditional Arts & Crafts techniques, activities include:
- candle making
Hidden talent? Excited about performing in front of friends? Want to be in a play but too shy? At Cali, it’s not “the play is the thing” it’s “play IS the thing.”
At Cali, our dramatics specialist:
- reveals each camper’s hidden talent
- provides a totally supportive atmosphere
- makes sure every camper feels comfortable
- develops acting, mime and improvisational skills of each camper
- shares tips that calm stage fright
Performances are frequently held at lunch under the big oak tree.
Step It Up
We’re pleased to launch a dance program for Cali Campers in 2012 so all ages can find their groove. Steps, styles and routines are shared here, with campers choreographing their own moves and performing them on stage at lunch.
Rhythm & Song
Rhythm is one of the first experiences we all have. Long before we learn to talk, we hear it in our walk. At Cali Camp we break lose with rhythms.
Join us to bang the drum, play percussion instruments, stomp, make your own instruments, music videos and put a new spin on camp song performances.
The Changing Power of Won Moo Hapkido
The true art form of Won Moo Hapkido is realized when we begin to win the battles we engage within ourselves and can take these lessons outside the dojang. This is the transformative power of the martial art we are honored to share year-round at Cali Camp.
On a physical level, Won Moo Hapkido’s primary focus is self-defense. Yet, it teaches more than that. It challenges and perfects one’s character through rigorous physical and mental discipline.
Cali Camp is honored to share Won Moo Hapkido instructor Robert Aguilar with our children, teenagers and friends. Robert believes that the more fun children and teenagers have practicing Won Moo Hapkido, the harder they try. The harder they try, the better their technique. Robert’s dojang is a place of good energy feeding off of good energy.
A 3rd Degree Black Belt instructor training exclusively under Grand Master Sang Yun Lee and his unique circular fighting style, Robert has run a successful Granada Hills studio for ten years.
Like many of his students, Robert entered the dojang as a way to get into shape. Then... he became passionate about the way of life Won Moo Hapkido offered. Maintaining an open mind and a willingness to change when a better way is presented is the foundation on which the martial art is built. To stay on the forefront, one must be willing to analyze existing thought and eliminate material that is no longer useful or effective. Incorporation of techniques that effectively solve today’s problems should be embraced. Learning should never cease. Martial Arts must continue to evolve and grow.
